
Teen Tech Week 2010 “Let It Shine” Video Contest
Do you love your library? Do you want to lend us a hand and possibly win a cool prize? Then enter our Teen Tech Week 2010 Video Contest! The challenge will be to create your own video tribute to your library, focusing on whatever aspect of the library you like or find most useful.
Official Rules and Guidelines
- Teens in grades 7-12 are eligible. Individuals or groups of no more than three teens may enter videos in the contest. At least one group member must have a valid library card from the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC).
- Entries must make either a verbal or visual reference to the phrase “Let it Shine”. For example, a visual reference could be a candle, flashlight, spotlight, etc.
- Video length should be between 30 seconds and 1 minute. Video entries must be original works created between February 15th and March 31st, 2010.
- Music, images and video clips included in the video must be copyright-free, legally licensed by obtaining the copyright holder's permission, licensed through Creative Commons licensing or be entirely original content created by the teen(s) submitting the video. (link: http://creativecommons.org/)
- Video entries must be appropriate for viewing by all ages.
- Video entries can include individuals or groups of people. Animation, claymation, puppetry and other inventive forms of video presentation using inanimate objects are equally acceptable. If people are filmed, filmmakers are responsible for obtaining permission from anyone appearing in the film, even incidentally.
- All entries must adhere to the YouTube Community Guidelines as stated on the YouTube web site.
- Go to www.teenxtremeonline.org to fill out an entry form. Entries will only be accepted between February 15 and March 31, 2010.
- Contestants agree to allow PLYMC to use their first name (or team name) and video submission for library marketing and promotion that may appear on the web or other media, including the Library's print publications.
- The Public Library has no obligation to use any video submissions for any purpose whatsoever, is not responsible for any lost, delayed, damaged or illegal submissions and may disqualify any video entry based on content or production.
- Only one winner will be chosen.
- Videos will be judged on creativity, originality, technical quality, and adherence to the theme.
- Winners will be announced on Thursday, April 15th. The judges' decision is final. The Grand Prize Winner(s) will receive a cash prize.
How To Enter
- Sign up for a YouTube account.
- Review YouTube’s Terms of Use, especially item 6: Your User Submissions and item 12: Ability to Accept Terms of Service.
- All entries must adhere to the YouTube Community Guidelines.
- Upload your video to YouTube
- Assign your video a title, description and tags
- Make sure to include the tags “Shine the Light” and PLYMC
- Complete the online entry form to submit your video
- Entries will be accepted from February 15th through March 31st
