Name: Sara   Grade: 12

Taking off into the world,
To an enchanting place with new faces, new rules,
New attitudes on a life so different than the one we live here and now.
They tell us what it will be like,
But upon reaching the destination… we see words can’t compare.

Pure elation overcomes the anxiety and concern that paces in the back of the mind.
Once taken off, we can’t go back,
Only forward with our memories to keep us strong.
Looking out the window, day turns into night,
One day closer to another life.

Instead of looking up, we are now looking ahead.
Everything the same, yet somehow more breathtaking.
How was the sky ever capable of holding so many colors?
Brilliant hues enveloping a cloudy sun,
Fading into marbled pastels, and then, into night.

Next, over the ocean, we are closer to destiny.
The sunrise illuminating lakes that seemed so big the day before,
Now, the water is tranquil, small, beautiful.
Hazy rainbows blend, yet separate, bands of darkness and white swirls of sky and cloud.
It’s unfathomable to think that this is only the ride there.

My poem is called "Why Does a Heart Hurt When it Breaks"
Why do they fall for the ones you can't have when you come so close but they give an excuse rather than the truth?
When did we come so sad to fail so fast?
Are we really that foolish to play out hearts without head to only know truth in the end?
Why do they lie and tell you what you can live with... a fake hope, a fake dream where will it end?
No doubt he still lies for my heart's sake while I put on a fake face and laugh away all the tears.
Still I wonder, why does a heart hurt when it breaks.

Young, innocent, and cancer???
It just doesn't go together, the answer remains unknown

Too devastating to even think about
Leaving families and friends in the past

All the times that were spent
Laughing and crying

Oh what a time
Oh why, oh why

Loving and caring families
Somebody always there for us

Good times, bad times
Will always be remembered inside

There is always a bright side
Jesus is always with us

I sit in the Autumn leaves
They seem to fall from the sky
I stare up in awe
And watch a tornado of colors fill air

It seems like magic
If there is such a thing
The beauty of nature
The sound of the wind

I could just sit there and drift
The cold would not bother me
I could lose myself in the sky
When it's painted like the ocean blue

As I sit there in the leaves
I capture the image in my head

A Whisper I Hear

Words
Words that bound you from your
hopes and dreams
Sounds
Sounds that discourage your
mind set from thinking
People
People that say words and make sounds
to scare the bewildered person inside
That’s scared to dream…
A person who has fear to do well
Or to be what you know you were made to be
A person that feels bamboozled by
the aspects of their lives…
A person that can’t see beyond the
Trouble in front of them because
Their troubles are like mountains and
They can’t see the other side…
Until you see the sun come over the horizon
Where you know that you are free…
When you know that it is okay
To dream…
When you know that the person inside
Can come out and say that you found me
And you let the pure thoughts come
Out of your mouth...
When you know if you can make it
over the last peak you
Will be in happiness…

A place where you can run in a
Straight path for eternity
Where you can feel that no one
Can stop you…
A place where you can unleash the
power within you…
A place where you feel as if you
Were never tricked or stirred
With unpleasant thoughts…
A place where the grass is so green
When it rains you can see it reflecting into
Your own eyes…
A place where you feel all power
To crush anything in your way…
Then you ask yourself,
Where is this place?!
And with an answer you hear within yourself
from the Holy Power that was given to you
says this place is within you.

Citizens of Palestine
By: Aseel

This is a poem to the citizens of Palestine
whom I deeply respect for their sufferings
that they've endured through this gaging war,
by never giving up like a grunt mounted to his gun,
and striving for success,
they never fail to rest.
In grief, in misery, in days where they fight
for all their rights
we, Americans, tend to analyze
and over exaggerate on the simplicities
whether it may be losing a game
or not earning fame.
But now I realize that we are all the same,
yet living in a different world far far away.
Not able to walk the streets at night,
not able to travel city to city,
and days without water are some kinds of misery.
Because I think living in a devastating daze of a daunting war
is no way to live for 62 gruesome years.
So I write this for awareness, for hope, for justice, for peace, for sympathy,
for a difference, citizens of Palestine, your not alone
and you'll be free once again.

-Angel from above-

Berry all my secrets in your skin
Your full of all this inacense, I’m buiried in this sin
The air around me still feels like a cage
Love is just a camoflos that covers al this rage

I feel a sudden shock when we touch lips
I cherish every moment we sare and when we kiss
I couldn’t see in the dark and you provided me with light
Inside there is a war but you can ease the fight

I can finally see down this tragic path
Full of love and care, once was a blood bath
You saved me from death and suicidal thought
I gave everyone an attitude , love is what I got

I feel no rage and anger, mad I be no more
I’m spilinng all my guts, dumping them on the floor
I’m in love you see, crazily in love
Like god sent me an angel, angel from above

TRANQUIL PARADISE

A tranquil paradise
A place to drop everything and chill
My life lies within my walls
A place to call my own

My think zone
My study place
My clean and tidy
Party zone

Memories lie on
The floor and the desk
My dog lies underneath
The bed looking
For something to
Destroy, anything

A place with my personality
My favorite station plays
The antenna is broken but
That explains me

My trash can filled with
Candy wrappers
The smell of nail polish
All around the room

It's all my room
MY
Tranquil Paradise

I would do things that you've never dreamed of!

Name: CHARLES   Grade: 9

it's just another day in the city
some cars go by with pity
bussinessmen,lawyers,carsalesmen,doctors
artists,attornies,teachers,sculptors

the days may change and so does the time
but the same things happens as a dime is a dime
we try to hide our hate for this filth called earth
and we continue our lives living for each day we go fourth

we dispise our superiors with all our being
and we give them our lives that we've stopped living
you joke at the office and serous at home
you wana shout and scream but all you can make is a moan

so you live your life forever through
and you try so very hard not to argue
for they are the people who sign your checks
they are the vampires that take your soul from your knecks

Name: charles   Grade: 9

september 1st fills me with cheer
for on this day is the beginning of the year
the school year that is and it fills good
to finally be able to be around people who i've understood

walking the halls makes me glad
getting on the bus to depart makes me sad
knowing ill be back the next day
makes me feel okay

joining clubs and gettin your status
freshmen are fresh man and seniors are senile and mad at us
because we parade the new halls getting around
up those stairs you walk in the mourning and at the end...down

so i'd say the high school
is like a haiku
its telling a story but not about nature
it's telling a story...about our future

Will I Be Remembered?

One night I lay in bed, thinking,
what will become of me?
When I become older,
will People see me for who I truly am?
Or will I be to old to care about?
Can people really change from
helper, to the helped?
As Young turns old?
Maybe what I believe is not true.
Are younger people as cruel to older people as I see?

Will I be remembered?

Will people remember me,
for whom I am now, a fourteen-year-old girl.
Perhaps people will think of me
as a helpless old woman.
Is it likelihood that I
won’t be remembered at all?
Is it a probability that I will
still be loved?
Will people remember the real me
on the inside instead of the
old me on the outside?

Will I be remembered?

Will they remember my brown wavy hair?
Will my bright blue eyes be remembered?
Instead will they remember me by my
future gray hair, my dazed eyes?
Will people look at me the same way?
As the case may be I might not
Be the same person on the inside as I am now.
I could be wiser than I’ve ever been,
making how I look a tiny thing
to worry about or the way people will act
may seem like a small price to pay.
However just one question remains…

Will I be remembered?

My world

I am never alone…
Someone is always there…
Even if you can’t see them…
They give me hope…
Love…
Spirit…
And mind…
They keep me close
And they never walk away
They hold me tight
and make sure I’m never turned away
Whether fighting a dragon
Or kissing me goodnight
They would rather die
Than to see me cry
To them I am a gift from above
And they sing me songs of love
But they are only seen in my world
My own little world
Where no one can touch me
And they protect me
And love me
In my world
Nothing is impossible…

Though You’re Gone

If tears were a stairway and memories were a lane, we would walk right up to heaven and bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken. There was no time to say goodbye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why.

Our hearts still aches in sadness and secret tears still flow. What it meant too loose you, no one will ever know.

But now we know you us to mourn for you no more. To remember all the happy times life still has much in store.

Since you’ll never be forgotten, we pledge to you today, a hallowed place within our hearts, is where you will always stay.

Name: Rosemarie   Grade: 12

Ours is a world of black and chrome cars.
The stereos pump violins, not guitars.
We speed fluidly, peacefully, down the freeway,
Under a sky that is silent and gray.

Ours is a world of neat suits and desks,
A place for the precise and educated guess,
For quiet and seamless assimilation,
Cogs and clockwork that everyone fits in.

Forget your world with its colors bright.
Grow up; live in the black and white.
Here we have electric lights.
We don't need the sun.
We can live in the night.

I want to leave

I want to laugh
But I hold back
I want to smile
But there is nothing to smile about
I want to run
But he won’t let go
I want to scream
But he holds me tight
I want to cry
But he stops my tears
I want to die
But he holds the knife
I want to love
But he won’t let me
I want him to stay
But he isn’t really there

Name: Jami   Grade: 11

I became so consumed I couldn't see
the need to have this freedom
overtook a big part of me
your affects on me are something so bizzare
I became friends with the enemy and refused to see
I hate everything you are

All those wasted months
and I still have nothing to show
I keep waiting around for something that doesn't come
I finally looked into the light
and despite all that I've done
the warmth surrounds me and lifts me up
im whole once again
I realize im more alone with you than without

I became weaker trying to figure you out
the more I pushed for reason
you filled me with doubt
You were like my alcohol, an addiction at that
and I couldn't get enough
but im clean now
And while im cleaning out my closet,
along with every other bottle of waste,
don't think I'll hesitate,
I proceed to throw you out

True

Scared, lost, or lonely

No one likes to feel like that

Everyone dreams of being perfect

Fitting in and being like everyone else

Always worrying about what you look like

Or what people think of you and if they like you

If there your true friends or if it’s all just a big act

And you never know what’s going to happen the next day

When you get to the point that you don’t want to do anything

When you just want to know you fit in for who you are

Not who people want you to be and you’re scared

You believe that you can’t be your self

But when you finally feel you can

You know you have a

True friend in hand.

Name: Amanda Marie   Grade: 10

Her tears fall like raindrops,
upon the city streets.
No one seems to notice,
as history repeats.

The first time she attempted,
he mended her broken wings.
Now he watches her fall,
no hope for sweet endings.

Although everything is different,
it all feels just the same.
100 feet below her,
he's the one to blame.

She reaches out for guidance,
though all she feels is hate.
He never once had loved her,
now he seals her fate.

She stepped off from that ledge,
falling faster than the rain.
Although her wings were broken,
she finally left her pain.

She is my fallen angel,
my savior from the sky.
She is my fallen angel,
never again will she fly.

Fall Fast:
Let the words fall from your tongue
as you seldomly let go.
You carry me from day to day
sweaty palms and racing hearts,
we were meant to be.
We were truly made for perfection;
more than the eye can merely see.
Wanting you but needing more
gasping in the depths
holding onto nothing more than
what we have, but simply striving for the rest.
Reaching for words as we slowly ponder through; saying you dont need a thing, when all I need is you.
Holding onto nothing more
but seeking the best
Inhaling each moment,
as if it were the last.
Grasping each memory and holding it tight.
Afraid of losing you,
like you lost your sense of reality
for me.
- The End.

The Beauty Of Nature

The sky is the clear blue sea of the earth.
The grass is the silky soft shield to the ground that we walk on.
The trees are the tall strong overpowering shades of life.
The sun gives us faith, it shines down when we are sad.
The moon makes us believe that we can give ourselves a good fulfilling life.
The animals bring us joy and happiness.
The flower that is where grace is, makes us embrace the beauty of nature.

We sat in the recording studio, stationary but euphoric
Sitting in the summertime, but it was only fall outside
My father sits behind a mixing board, as his friends let him take over
Like a king and a beforehand war

We sat in the recording studio, stationary but rapturous
Sitting in the summertime, but it was only fall outside
I smile at my father, who’s striped shirt catches my eye
Smiling I am for this tells me he loves me

We sat in the recording studio, stationary but elated
Sitting in the summertime, but it was only fall outside
We all listen intently to what my father sang just a few minutes ago
My heart is pounding as the notes fade away into the melody—my melody

We sat in the recording studio, stationary but high
Sitting in the summertime, but it was only fall outside
His voice is singing warmly, cordially, and genially
Filling the room with conflagration
Singing with power, for all the world to hear

We sat in the recording studio, stationary but soaring
Sitting in the dark winter, and it was so cold outside
Not long ago was I sitting here, listening to the song he sang for me
His radiant eyes shining as he played my song, my love

And now, summertime has died,
For winter arose upon him
I sat beside my departed father
Whose body was silence in motion

I sat in the recording studio, stationary but crying
Sitting in the wintertime, and it was silent outside
I never got to say goodbye to the summertime
For it will never come again
Clinging to the striped shirt, waiting...waiting
For summertime to come back again.

Suicide

Light fades,
Darkness creeps in.
Guns blaze,
we will never win.
Gothic king,
Lost myself,
Darkness swings,
I need your help.

BACK AWAY!
BACK AWAY!
BACK AWAY!
Let the night stay,
Let me pay,
Let me stray...

Flaming Faces

As the fire changed colors,
and the flames licked the skies,
all that I could think of,
was you and your eyes.

As the heat kept rising,
the wood burning bright,
your face was in my mind,
baby you're quite a sight.

As the sky darkens,
turning royal blue,
only one thing was left shining,
and darling that was you.

As time ticked by,
with only you on my mind,
sleep that night failed me,
cause of how lovely you shined.

Love In Moderation

I've seen it twice, but blind to some,
Azure eyes, hypnotic in gleam
Know of the perversions yet to come,
Dark beauty spells the unforseen.
A witness to enslavement, for I saw
words whispered of love linger.
Astral beasts, on weakness they gnaw,
Feeding on anguish with prying fingers.
How can such tender vices be denied,
from one who beholds it all in vain?
Intentions from fulfilled to deprived
in which love utters its own name.

There the Whole Time:

Drifts of laughter
Voices
Such conversation
If you weren't there the whole time
Forget it
Too late to smile
to laugh
too late
If you weren't there the whole time

So close
Yet too far
Once so simple
Is now too hard
If you weren't there the whole time

What soon will be gone
will soon be missed
Will it be longed for?
Or looked back upon with scorn?
If you weren't there the whole time

Never quite known
Never a stranger
But what is the balance?
Is it there?
If you'd been there the whole time
You'd know
what it is

This Feeling
No matter how many times I look into your eyes, the amazing feeling never dies, never ends.
Even when we were no more than friends, this feeling was always there.
Slowly revealing itself as more than a fling.
This strange thing just blows my mind, every time I see your face.
My heart begins to race when you come near.
Right here is where I wanna be forever.
Beside you.
With this unbelievable feeling, filling my heart everyday.
This feeling….
Love.

Somewhere in the world
A heart is bleeding
Somewhere in the world
A heart has to let a loved one go

A bird flies by
The waves slowly come up the shore
And the tears of a broken heart
Fall from the sky

It is never easy to break a heart
It's never easy to have a heart broken
But you move on and time passes
And soon that heart is healed

Somewhere in the world
A heart has healed
Somewhere in the world
A heart is about to break

Title: Snowflake Angels

Softly fall
Gently floating
Gracefully covering all harsh lines
Hear their wings
gently humming
Soothing my heart with a lullaby
So white, so cold
Gently icy
Numbing my heart oh so slowly
Adorned in lace
gently touching
Uncaring for my stories untold
"It's time to move on"
they gently kiss me
My tears fall thickly for their sweet
embrace
Quiet as sleep
Gently listening
Sparkling and knowing
in the fading light of day
